Plant a tree through the Planetree Program.

Carbonhalo and its Planetree Program have partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects a non-profit organisation dedicated to combating deforestation and poverty in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.

In addition to reforestation, the projects also focus on providing employment and training opportunities to the people of Madagascar. By hiring and training local workers to plant and care for trees, helping to build a more sustainable future for the island and its people.

Why reforest in Madagascar?

One of the primary areas where we work is Madagascar, a unique and biodiverse island nation located off the southeastern coast of Africa.

Madagascar is home to an incredible array of plant and animal species, many of which are found nowhere else on Earth. Unfortunately, the island’s forests are under threat from illegal logging, slash-and-burn agriculture, and other forms of land degradation. These activities have resulted in 90% of the forest being destroyed and the loss of the habitat and countless species but have also contributed to climate change having a negative impact on local communities.

The projects in Madagascar are working to reverse these trends through a variety of initiatives, including the planting of native tree species and the restoration of degraded lands. The team of local staff and volunteers works closely with community members to ensure that efforts are sustainable and have a lasting impact.

We believe that by working together, we can protect and restore the beautiful forests of Madagascar, while also improving the lives of those who call this island home.
